too cool
I'm leaving this post open because it's cool ;)

Here is the last night launch that went across our yard tonight. It's edited down because you could see it for so long but just thought I'd share :) This was just with our little digital camera. I'm hoping the stuff I got with the HD cam came out really well.

Uploaded a few videos from the concert. Had to shrink them down to 320x240 and take quality down to get them small enough to go online but here they are!

Concert!

  • Nov. 3rd, 2008 at 8:54 PM
oh yeah
So, New Kids concert... it was AWESOME! We ended up with 8th row. I couldn't believe it! The girls just one row in front of us (and even I think a few in our row based on the VIP packages I saw them carrying) had paid $375 for their tickets. So I was quite pleased with my $175 8th row VIP purchase. I took 125 pictures and then 3 gigs worth of video! I got 50+ pictures edited down and uploaded so I'll share a few here and then just link to the rest :)

I love VH1

new kids
I just read this on VH1 about New Kids...

"NKOTB are also gearing up for an exclusive 90-minute live event, "New Kids on the Block: A Behind The Music Special Event" premiering on VH1, September 28 at 8PM (ET/PT). In a first-of-its-kind production, the special will celebrate the history of the New Kids on the Block while also documenting their inspired 2008 reunion in their own words. Interspersed throughout the special will be live reports from Boston, counting down until VH1 airs a live broadcast of the first three songs from the world-renowned group's sold out concert at the TD Banknorth Garden in their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts."

How fun is that! And right around my birthday :D

Uh oh, we're in trouble

No, not storm related :p Though the house smells atrocious from the mildew!! The heavy rains have stopped for today; we just have a few lingering bands that keep showering now and again.

Anyway, my mom bought Jordan an Ariel purse because she carries random stuff around like a purse. She'll put sandals up her arms like a purse and try to carry big bags around on her shoulders. I gave her her little flip phone while she had the purse and told her to put it in there so she put it in and now carries her purse around while pulling the cell phone out and putting it back in. haha We're in for it later! ;)

Writer's Block: Your Topic

Is there a topic you can't stop writing about in your journal? Why do you write about it so much?

I write about Jordan a WHOLE lot, but it's because she's my daughter and I'm watching her grow and change so quickly. After her, it's probably New Kids because well, they're the New Kids. No explanation needed ;)

Let's say you're a hobgoblin for 24 hours. What sort of havoc would you wreak?

Or:

If a baby of unknown origins suddenly fell into your care, would you keep it? What would you name it?

I would take care of it as long as it took to find another home. We already have all the supplies ;) Having just experienced a newborn not too long ago and currently having an almost 10 month old, I can't say I'd be up for another newborn this soon and wouldn't have a problem giving it to someone who could really take care of it.

9 month appointment

Jordan had her 9 month doctor's appointment yesterday.

She's 28+ inches (can't remember exactly) which is 80th percentile. She weighs 18lbs 12oz which is 50th percentile so she's tall and skinny! She eats like a horse too so she must have some good metabolism.

I guess her head was a little big so he said we'd just keep an eye on its growth, but it doesn't look that big in proportion to her body. She never slept on the back of her head when she was smaller - always had her head to the side - and then slept on her tummy early on so it never got flattened at all; it's very round in the back. I have no idea if that's what contributes but he didn't seem too concerned.

No shots this time! Yay! Just a toe prick to check iron levels and she just kinda looked at the nurse like, "What the..." when she did it. No crying this time. She was in a good mood all day though. Played by herself all morning for me and then was smiling at everyone she met at the doctor's office. First time we left there not crying since she's had shots every time up until now.

Her first tooth finally broke through a couple days ago and the doctor said the one next to it looks like it'll be quick to follow. She's been great despite the teething though. Only time she's been cranky or didn't sleep was last week when she was sick, so hopefully it stays that way! It's about time she got a tooth through. Though I will miss that toothless, gummy smile :) Makes her seem younger than she is.

How are your Saturday nights different now than they were five years ago?

View 500 Answers

Five years ago I didn't have an 8 month old daughter that had to be in bed by 8 :)

Instead of just jumping up to see a movie or go out with friends we now have to plan ahead to make sure Jordan is taken care of and see an earlier movie so we're not out too late and can get her home and in bed at a half decent hour.

Wouldn't change it though! :)

Writer's Block: Repeat After Me...

oh my

How have people pronounced your name? How is it supposed to sound?

View 500 Answers

Usually they butcher my last name. I've gotten everything but the actual pronunciation (which I thought would be easy when I got married!)

I hear Doe-lan, Donna-lan, Donna-lay and the correct pronunciation is Don-lan ... exactly how it's spelled. I don't get it. Why do people put letters in that aren't there?
